Why a Team of Women Designed the Cardinal?
Most chef's knives were never designed with women in the room, so many of us learned to compensate for handles that felt oversized, blades that felt poorly balanced, and grips that required more force than they should. We designed the Cardinal because we wanted a knife where control comes from shape, balance, and technique, not from gripping harder. The result is a knife that works better for every hand.
The wider handle end gives your hand a stable place to anchor, so you never have to clamp down to keep it from shifting. Curves near the throat give your fingers a natural resting place, reducing the tiring "death grip" during repetitive chopping. The pinch guard creates a supported bridge between blade and handle, making a proper pinch grip comfortable from the first hold. More working weight sits in the blade, so it carries through dense ingredients like winter squash while your hand simply guides the cut, and centering control around the pinch guard keeps effort out of your wrist and forearm.
We also wanted the Cardinal to fit more easily into your life. It is dishwasher safe, so care never cuts into cooking time. Our sharpening service keeps your edge sharp without leaving you without your everyday knife, because a sharp knife moves predictably and is a safer knife. And every Cardinal comes with a safety cover, so you can store it however works for your home while protecting your fingers and the blade.
Description
Ok ok, this isn't revolutionary. But there is nothing like a good baseball hat.
Our "Never a Dull Moment" cap is our little wink to kitchen life while acknowledging your day-to-day hustle. A laid-back addition to any look, it's perfect for those days when your hair isn't cooperating or when you're just not in a chatty mood. Because sometimes, a baseball hat says everything you need to without saying a word.

How To Know Your Chef Knife Fits?
To test it, use a proper pinch technique: place your thumb and index finger on the blade (for most knives) or on our pinch guard area just in front of the handle, and let your other three fingers curl naturally around the handle. Then relax your hand. If your index finger feels secure and comfortable, your other fingers can rest without a death grip, and the end of the handle lands around the heel of your palm, that knife fits you. If your fingertips dig into your palm, the handle extends past your palm, or your wrist twists to keep the edge straight, it is not you; it is the wrong handle for your hand.
Tell me more about the handle.
The handle weighs 1.7 oz, and the complete knife weighs 6.1 oz. Because the handle detaches, you can do something most knives don't allow and hold it on its own. It's a useful way to practice the pinch grip the handle is shaped around, though how a knife feels comes from every part working together. We spent six years on our patented handle, from the hidden mechanisms to the placement of the magnets, keeping it light so the weight carries forward to where you grip. That forward weight gives each cut momentum, so you use less force and your hand does less work.
The handle is precision-molded from high-impact engineering polymer and ultrasonically welded into one seamless piece. We're developing our next handle in 100% recycled polymer.
